Drive or be driven.
The day of reckoning has inevitably arrived. My baby is getting her car licence today. No, she hasn’t passed the test yet. But she will. This post serves to testify to the amount of confidence I have in her. More importantly, this post would testify to the favor and wisdom of God that will surround and fill her on this particular day.
Now, the issue at hand. I would expect only two different kinds of reactions from myself upon her passing the test. Firstly, I would be jumping around wildly for joy. Not just because her months of driving effort have paid off, but also because potentially, I now have a chauffeur.
The next reaction I may have would be very similar to the first. I would still be whooping around, and I would potentially have a chauffeur. However, that’s not by choice. Folks, you’ve guessed it. I do not own a licence. So now, should I feel the heat under my collar and start acquiring my driving licence, so as to minimise my inferiority complex? In this time and era, where female and male equality are on a par in most societies, it is very common to have women being more successful than men in every aspect of living. Heck, if your wife is more capable than you are at bringing home the bread and the butter, I feel the alpha male ego should really take a backseat and you, as a rational man, should simply start taking care of household chores and the kids. Who knows, you might even carve a niche for yourself as a baby-sitter.
That being said, I still feel that I should acquire a licence. Not for my ego’s comfort’s sake, but since I am going to be rich and famous, a car and a driving licence would come in handy. Right. Seriously, a licence would be essential in the near future when work and family commitments pile up.
